The other day, we recommended eating your way across a city to explore it. Today, we have another suggestion: Pokémon Go your way across a city. In this case, Orlando.
Visit Orlando has organized a massive Pokémon Go event that spans a good chunk of the city. It’s a two-day event, spanning the weekend of Aug 6th and 7th during the day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Mind you this is not simply a ploy to get you to check out a few local shops. No, this event focuses on the gameplay by dropping lures every thirty minutes to help you catch ‘em all. They have even made an interactive map available to assist game players maximize their play.
Some of the many locations hosting players include Pointe Orlando, I-Drive 360, Fun Spot, Señor Frogs Orlando, Visit Orlando’s Official Visitor Center, and soooo many more.
Just imagine all of the fellow Pokémon Go players you’ll meet and potentially become lifelong friends with – unless one of those someones captures a Tauros and therefore becomes your lifelong arch nemesis!!!
And when you need a break from the gameplay, many of the participating businesses are offering discounts, BOGOs and free stuff such as appetizers and drinks. Specifically, some of the offers are:
- Senor Frogs 2 for 1 Poké-ritas
- Coca-Cola Orlando Eye - 25% off admission
- Sugar Factory- 10% off entire purchase
- Monkey Joe’s - $7 admission all day on Sunday
- Adobe Gila’s - BOGO or appetizer with beverage purchase
It’s a great way to get out and explore parts of the city you don’t normally see from the theme parks. You’ll meet great people, try some wonderful cuisine and drinks, and maybe – just maybe – catch a super rare Pokémon like a Venusaur.
But you gotta play if you wanna catch ‘em all.
