If you’ve taken a creative writing course, you’ve probably been treated to some variation of the advice, “don’t write about your life unless it’s as interesting as Indiana Jones’s.” The takeaway supposedly being that your life is boring, so don’t write about it.
Talk about rotten advice. The true advice you should be listening to is that you need to get out and make your life as exciting as Indy’s!
And what did Indy do? He travelled. A lot. Some would call him a globe-trotter.
That’s your challenge for this fresh, new year. Travel so much that even Indiana Jones would tell you to slow down. Explore places that you never dreamed you would, and then head someplace new. There’s so much diversity in this world and you should experience as much of it as you can.
Make this year about drawing red lines from one city on the map to the next, tracing your travel routes.
Just avoid the snakes and hostile armies trying to kill you like Indy typically had nipping at his heels. Your vacations will be much more relaxing that way.
