Fall is Almost Here! Time to Rejoice (that the heat will be gone soon)!

The late Summer heat got you down? And by ‘down’ we mean melting at even the thought of stepping a toe outside the safety of your air-conditioned home, or course. If so, that means you’re probably already looking ahead to fall. After all, there’s football (Yay!), school (Boo!), and fall festivals and events (Yay-yay-yay!). Oh, and there’s the granddaddy of fall fun and frivolity, Halloween! So, what fun things lie around the corner when the weather cools and the leaves turn the color of sunset?

If you happen to find yourself in Orlando for some reason, there will be plenty of extra-special Halloween fun at its major theme parks. First and foremost, there’s Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, which we are ridiculously excited about, and runs selected nights from mid-September through Halloween. There’s also Mickey’s Not So Spooky Halloween Party, running mid-August through Halloween, which is perfect for small kids and their families. Universal’s event certainly caters to the PG-13 crowd, if not older, and do it very well. Disney has the littlest ones in their hearts, and do what they do equally as well.

There are some “reality based” scares to be had on one of the many ghost tours of Charleston. Whichever you choose, you’ll spend a few hours following a master storyteller through town, reveling the group with the haunted history of the town and the many, many historical figures who may just still be walking its streets with you…

If Halloween is not your thing, then there’s still lots of fun to be had. For instance, Myrtle Beach has several festivals that will put you in that fall feeling without ghosts and ghouls trying to frighten you. There’s the 42nd Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival, the annual St. John’s Greek Festival, and the 15th annual Irish Italian Festival – all in Late September. And come early October, you can experience the Myrtle Beach Seafood Festival.

Let’s not forget that for bike enthusiasts, on October 18-21, Daytona Beach hosts Biketoberfest, where Bikers, motorcycle enthusiasts and curious travel seekers will enjoy beautiful fall weather, live music and the thrill of watching the pros compete in Daytona International Speedway's motorcycle races.

Doesn’t that all sound amazing? Is it enough to make you forget the heat outside and drift your thoughts out to the buoy of hope that is autumn?  And, as always, you can book a weekend trip to enjoy any of these special events by visiting our Vacations Page.
