You Can Now Stay Later at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

In the past, when planning your Walt Disney World vacation, you had to account for the early closure of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. The park never stayed open past sunset for various reasons. That’s all changed now. Disney’s Imagineers have designed some great new attractions to keep guests happy long after the sun has receded below the horizon.

First on the must-do list is the new Jungle Book: Alive with Magic show, based on the hit movie(s). This is a limited time engagement, so it’s certainly something you’ll want to see before it’s locked back inside the Disney vault. Featuring the music that made the original animated film a classic, and the new live-action film a blockbuster hit, it’s limited time magic that simply must be experienced by your entire family.

If you love the projections on Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom, then you’ll flip for The Tree of Life Awakens, where a magical production is projected every 15-20 minutes. One of four different short projection shows will dance along the icon’s outer visage, each telling a new story about the animals that inhabit the park.

For guests who enjoy a good street party, the Discovery Island Carnivale combines great music with terrific street performers to really create a party atmosphere.

And, coming soon, is a nighttime spectacular called Rivers of Light, a water and light show awash with breathtaking special effects.

But, that doesn’t mean the regular attractions aren’t open as well. The park’s premiere attraction, the Kilimanjaro Safari has been outfitted with special lighting so guests can watch their favorite animals engage in their nighttime routines.

Rides like Kali River Rapids are also open at night, and if you know anything about Florida summers, you know the absence of sun does not diminish the heat, so a good dousing on this water ride is a welcome respite from the humidity.

So, if you were already mapping out your Walt Disney World vacation, and put a big X through the evening hours of your Animal Kingdom visit, you may want to pull out that eraser and explore all of the new entertainment options newly opened up.
